CONSIDER THE LITTLE ONES ---- LET THEM BE FREE TO BE CHILDREN

WHO WILL STAND FOR THE DEFENSELESS ?

Open Arms World Outreach is dedicated to identifying and proactively aiding ‘at risk’ children who have been victims of human trafficking and other devastating abuses. We will intervene and provide a safe, secure refuge for those who need it in a compassionate, supportive environment. Specialized counseling from trained staff members will support these children in recovering from the traumas they have been forced to endure. The key to building a sustainable future for them will be to provide an excellent education and all the opportunities that it will offer. Living on-site at a closed campus private school they will have good nutritious food to eat, medical care, clothing and all of their basic needs. All students will be trained and encouraged to make a positive impact on their world and become leaders and productive members of their society.

What normal caring person would not find great joy in knowing that abused little children can be rescued, that they can become happy and live their lives in peace. There are horrific dark forces in the world that can devour their lives and plunge them into utter and complete misery. Every night all over the world an untold multitude of little children cry themselves to sleep for many reasons. Some are frightened, sad, hungry or even homeless with no one to care for them. But there are some who do not cry any more, they don't dare. They have been terrorized until they will stop. They are literally slaves to those who imprison them far from home. These innocent little children are kept captive in brothels where they are beaten brutally, forced to work very hard and then are sold to be sexually abused any time of night or day. Most are 6 - 14 years old, but some are only 3, they are still babies . In Thailand for example, you can buy one of these little ones to abuse any way you want to for $5 (there is however an extra charge if they die as a result of the perverted fun and games). Some were kidnapped and brought from far away by their captors and they do not know their way home. Some were homeless and have been lured by the promise of money and food. Even worse are those who have been insidiously betrayed and sold into slavery by their own family. In Asia many fathers, the very ones who are given the charge to defend and protect them from all harm, sometimes sell their little children. It is a common practice. How can this happen? What can we do to help them? ..................................

WHO WILL STAND WITH US FOR THEM ?

We will be sponsoring several all-day conferences and fund raisers to be held in the Portland, Oregon area this summer. Time is of the essence, the cost of delay is unacceptable. The dates and itineraries will be posted here as soon as they are confirmed. Leaders of the rescue organizations involved will be speaking and giving video and photographic presentions of the miserable conditions that these defenseless little children must endure. Our goal is to create awareness of this terrible situation and to raise funds for the rescue of these precious little ones. The first phase of our assault on this form of human trafficking is to buy their freedom from their owners. Then we will take them to a safe Christian refuge far from their slavery and captivity to live their lives in peace as little children. Some can be reunited with lost families, but most can not and we will have to provide for these a new home with loving protective people to guide, teach and care for them. It will not be easy, but this will be so worth it. We are looking for any one who has a burden for these little ones and if God lays it on your heart, we welcome your help. Please contact us through this forum and we will respond as quickly as possible. More information on these events will be posted as it is available.

Kids are Supposed to be Happy

What is wrong with showing some happy kids now? After all, this is what our efforts are all about anyway. It is all too easy to become so focused on the misery and hopelessness of the millions of little children 'at risk', we can forget that there are successes too. We ask that you help us to bring more successes into a cruel world and let's train as many 'at risk' kids as we can to go out and save their world. All they need are the right tools and some quality time to finish growing up the way God intended, as children.

These pictures are from rescue shelters across southeast Asia.

Our Mission

By the power and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are commissioned to go unto all the world to protect, defend and deliver the hurting and suffering victims of cruel abuses, to comfort the desperate and downtrodden, to heal the sick and afflicted, to bring hope to the victims of life threatening addictions, to encourage those who are imprisoned, to proclaim the truth and bring the light of salvation into the dark places of the world, and TO SET THE CAPTIVES FREE in the name of YESHUA, our Savior.

Will you join us in our quest to bring them out of darkness and give them the tools they need to change their world into a better place?

MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU

The Next Steps: Moving Forward

Isaiah 61:1  "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, ..........."

This is a powerful prophetic statement about the Messiah and what He would come to do. In fact this is the very scripture that Jesus read in his home town synagogue when he began his ministry and has been used to commission many ministries in His name ever since. We will rely on this fundamental principle to guide Open Arms World Outreach to help us  see with clarity and act with wisedom to fulfill God's purpose. To everything there is a beginning, and in the Kingdom of God on earth, all things start with prayer. On Sunday June 6, Open Arms World Outreach (OAWO) was given the hospitality of the Spirit of Prophesy Church in Portland. I was invited to share the vision and goals for the outreach and then gather into prayer all who attended. Following a discussion of related issues, the church body then began praying in agreement with millions of other Christians all over the world, joining in with the World Weekend of Prayer event. The focus of this annual event is to pray on behalf of the millions of at risk and fatherless children everywhere. I know for a fact that the foundations of the world tremble when those who are called by His name come together in this way, seeking the face of God on behalf of the little ones He holds so precious to Himself.

I don’t believe it was a coincidence that our sister Rev. Mullita Romeo just happened to hear from God to turn around from where she was going and come to SOP Church. She didn't even know what we were doing until she arrived. She also just happened to bring with her a picture board covered with pictures of the children and staff of the orphanage she supports in Thailand. It was great to have her share her pictures and we were glad to have her tell us a little bit about the orphanage and conditions in Thailand. This was nice because the video we were going to watch suddenly would not play. I guess we were given a real-life testimony instead. From the start, OAWO has been comitted to helping her support this orphanage as one of our first tangible actions. This time of sharing and prayer was an uplifting blessing to me and I hope to all those involved, and I encourage anyone who was present to comment below.

But now, it is time to keep moving with ‘all speed ahead’. The next step is to finalize the dates for our campus awareness conferrences this summer, and all the related arrangements. We are also in the process of developing  the gusdelines and core principles of the school curriculum and applying for grant funding. Then it's off to Thailand in October for 3 weeks. We will really have to race to make all the necessary personal contacts with church, government and business leaders that are needed to move on with the project. We also will be looking at land for the school, and currently have two properties of interest that would be ideal. Shown are a couple pictures from one of these properties. It is a 35 acre operating farm/ranch found only 10 minutes from Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand. This place is currently staffed by hired hands, and it would generate income and provide food for the school. The property already has two large houses and a bunkhouse for the farm workers, who we would keep on to run the farm. Very convenient! Just 20 minutes down the road, Chiang Mai University with nearly 30,000 students is one of the premiere engineering/technical schools in Asia. Last but not least, we would get a chance to visit the orphanage that sister Mullita Romeo supports and deliver a gift to them. We will also seek out medical care facilities and other children's shelters that we may be able to network with.

June 6, 2010 World Week-end of Prayer

Viva is an international organization dedicated to networking and linking churches and church based organizations together to share resources and information. In unity, the efforts of all individual groups can be shared and learned from with materials and training resources that can be shared freely without cost to those who work with 'at risk children'. Viva sponsors an annual event called the World Weekend of Prayer on the weekend of June 5 & 6, 2010. Over 2 million people in 89 countries will be involved and praying for the millions of 'at risk children' in the world. There currently are estimated to be 13 million children enslaved by human trafficking alone, and many millions more who are the victims of other cruel abuses.

ON Sunday June 6 2010, Spirit of Prophesy Church in Portland will have Sunday services and a time of prayer with Open Arms World Outreach to join the Viva Community all over the world. It is a fact that just one person praying can make a difference. The Bible says 'where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them". When two or three million are gathered together in HIs name, imagine the difference that will be made when we agree together in the name of The Lord. We will have spirit filled worship, discussion on some issues of human trafficking and the mission of Open Arms World Outreach. Then we will have a meaningful time of prayer for all the 'at risk children' world-wide. Following, we will close with a prayer for all the children present that they will be blessed and never become 'at risk' themselves in any way. You are cordially invited to come and join us to make a positive difference for GOD'S little ones who are hurting and in bondage. It is so easy, and together we will change the world. Afterwards, we will enjoy good Christian fellowship and some dessert and beverages will be provided. If you are going to be in the Portland, Oregon area on June 6 and would like to join us we would be honored to have you, and you are welcome to bring your children. If you can not be with us in person, we ask that you would join us anyway from wherever you are, even it is only for 60 seconds. A CALL TO ACTION :

What Are We Going To Do ?
                                             The Flaming Sword of GOD
Thailand is one of the largest sex tourism destinations in Asia and fully 1/2 of all prostitiutes in the country are under the age of 14. According to statistics, Thailand is also one of the largest consumers of methamphetamine in Asia. This creates a violent and even more dangerous environment for the most vulnerable and defenseless, the children who are trapped in the illicit sex industry. It will be in Thailand that we will locate the pilot rescue project and our headquarters for Asia. Our first goal must be to identify and remove 'the most at risk' little children from their current  situation. They have to be rescued and brought to a safe, secure and protected refuge. We must act quickly and quietly and with  great focus in this first phase. We must buy or otherwise secure their freedom and get them to safety as fast as possible! We will have to bring them to guarded temporary locations at first to protect them from any retribution and/or to keep them from being captured and forced to return to their captivity. We will then find safe homes far away for as many as possible after they have been rescued to keep them from ending up back where they came from. If good, secure and loving homes can be found for them, we will locate them there and maintain oversight with aggressive follow up to ensure their ongoing and continuing safety. It will be important to ensure that we only bring them to places that are going to look out for their best interests and not turn them into cheap child laborers.

A private boarding school located in a rural area will be the ultimate solution for those that have no appropriate family to locate them with.  The school(s) will be a secured resident student and staff facility to protect and house these children. Here they can live their lives in peace until they are adults providing for all their needs while they are there. They will learn from compassionate supportive adults in a structured environment the sound principles of good work ethics and Godly living. An effective, appropriate and comprehensive curriculum is currently being developed to ensure the students will have the necessary skills to succeed upon graduation. Traditional secular studies and work place skills training will prepare them to graduate and  go on to support themselves with living wage jobs and live normal and productive lives. A small business development program will afford an opportunity to  those students who are interested  to conceptualize and set up an operating small business. Upon successful graduation, these small businesses would then become the sole property of the students and migrate with them into Thai society. This will not only positively impact the local economies, but give students a means to support themselves after leaving the school.  Bible study shall be encouraged to all students in the program and Christian principles shall be demonstrated to all students by example. For those who so choose, an advanced seminary program will be available to effectively train them to become missionaries, pastors, evangelists and Godly servants to their people.  They will be able to reach many people that would not be receptive to the gospel in any other way. Specialized training will also be made available to those who wish to enter into the world of politics. In this way some will be able to honorably impact the societies that rejected them in a positive way so that the conditions they endured will no longer exist. The school teachers must also be trained as counselors to meet the special needs and behaviors of the students, and will be hired from the local area. A school administrator will manage and be responsible for all phases of operation and oversight including the on-site training of the teachers. Segregation of the girls and boys will be best at first and the initial facility will be for girls only, as they are the most vulnerable to the degrading and debilitating conditions they are escaping from. A boys academy will be built as soon as possible in an adjacent but seperate compound. This close proximity will help build and promote normal healthy interaction between girls and boys under controlled circumstances and allow the sharing of vital school resources.

We must also take whatever measures we can to discourage some of the wealthiest customers of these businesses from even coming to these countries. Many of the customers of these foreign brothels, especially in Asia are American citizens. There is a law that allows prosecution of those who commit specific crimes in other countries while they are legally American citizens, and SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN IS COVERED UNDER THIS LAW. We must work with existing volunteer groups and government agencies to help them track the illegal activities of renegade American citizens abroad.  Let them find justice waiting for them when they return home and this will greatly help to discourage many others from going to the areas we are targeting.

Action must also be taken against the legal status and ability of these illicit businesses to operate by working through government interventions and lobbying. We will take a proactive stance with this course of action and work to legally shut down the brothels that traffic in little children everywhere we can. If this industry can be interrupted and/or changed, the trafficking of little children can at least be slowed down, and anything will be an improvement at this point. Working to educate the people and improve economic conditions in these countries will also reduce the depenency that many Asian countries have on sex tourism. We can and will empower them in any way we can to provide them the tools to change their world into a better place for all.

Just when we think that this is a problem found only in foreign countries, it turns out  there is a huge problem in our own backyard. Human trafficking is dramatically on the rise here in our own country. With 300,000 persons per year and 100,000 of these children, the US is the largest market for human trafficking in the world. This industry has become the second largest illegal operation in the world next only to drugs, and just as deadly, vile and destructive. In our neighborhoods and on our city streets are countless thousands of victims who were brought here under false pretences or without their consent in captivity, and yes there are little children in sex slavery here too.
